Largest Cohort of Seniors In Ten Years Begin Their Internships
For the second semester, ten Golda Och Academy seniors elected to participate in the Internship Program – the largest cohort in the last ten years! Five of them also chose to join their Neshama classmates in Poland and have now returned to New Jersey to begin their internships.
The GOA Senior Internship Program offers real-world work experience to our Grade 12 students as an alternative option to the Neshama Program. Experiences vary but may include job training in a field of the student's choice (such as medical research, state or national government, non-profit work, law, advertising, communication, design, etc). Students meet on a regular basis with their fellow Internship students and faculty advisers to discuss their experiences, attend field trips and maintain social contact.
The following students are participating in this year's program:
Daniel A. is interning under Andrew Mittleman at GOA’s Lower School in STEM Education. Daniel will help with: documenting classes with video footage, which can be edited into marketing videos; 3D printing projects and technical; providing STEM support for the kids; and maintaining organizing the Livnot Lab (STEAM Lab) space to make materials easier to locate for the kids.
Jesse B. is interning with the Upper School Language Arts Department. Jesse is pursuing secondary English education, and so his student teaching-esque experience will include assisting the department as a Teacher’s Assistant in various classes, compiling data toward new departmental projects (e.g. GOA Writing Style Guide and novel audit), and will eventually have the opportunity to develop his own lessons and teach select classes.
Rex B. is interning under Michael Streifer, Clinic Manager, at Pro Staff Physical Therapy. Rex will be both shadowing physical therapists and also assisting aides. He will be helping with certain things like cleaning tables, setting up exercise equipment, organizing patient charts, and generally helping with the clinic. He will also be given material to learn related to the field of physical therapy and will meet patients and learn about their injury/recovery and rehabilitation.
David D. is interning under Anthony Gerber, Co-Owner/Head Instructor at Integrated Martial Arts & Fitness LLC. David will learn about data entry, data management, marketing, and customer service.
Adina F. is interning under Lori Villa, Director of Volunteer Services at Englewood Health. Adina will be a vital part of a robust volunteer program and will have direct patient and family contact and be an active participant in Englewood Health's patient experience.
Bradley G. is interning under Howard Weinrib, co-Founder at TEKI (Technology Education Knowledge Instruction) LLC. More details to come regarding Bradley’s anticipated responsibilities.
Kenny G. is interning under Gina Genovese, Owner of Gina’s Tennis World. Kenny is going to develop an online social media presence, focusing on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and maybe TikTok. He will also film some testimonials, teaching videos, and advertisements, and will work behind the desk and interface with clients.
Josh L. is interning under Dr. David Tannor (Ms. Sonet’s brother) at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel. More details to come regarding Josh’s anticipated responsibilities.
Rachel M. is interning under Jordan Gorfinkel, President of the Jewish Graphic Novel Initiative. Rachel will have hands-on experience working with a production team on all facets of operations, production, and management of Jewish graphic novel content creation.
Hannah W. is interning under Theresa Buchheister, Artistic Director at the Brick Theater. Among her varied responsibilities, Hannah will help facilitate shows and rehearsals at Brick Aux, “the logical and magical extension of The Brick Theater” which provides support for Brick staff and artists via office, rehearsal, and classroom space, as well as gallery space to share the visual art of their multidisciplinary and diverse communities.
