Board of Trustees Community Update - January 23, 2024

Dear GOA Community,

I am delighted to share the exciting news that we have just renewed Rabbi Nevins's contract for an additional three years as Head of School at Golda Och Academy.

Before joining Golda Och Academy, Rabbi Nevins was a lifelong Jewish educator. He served as a pulpit rabbi, helped found, taught, and served on the board of a new Jewish High School in the Detroit area, and was the Dean of the Rabbinical School at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Rabbi Nevins continues to serve as a member of the Rabbinical Assembly's Committee on Jewish Law and Standards.

During his time with us, Rabbi Nevins' warm spirit and innovative nature have had a significant positive impact on our school community. In many aspects, he has reimagined what a GOA education can provide our children. Under his leadership, our faculty has been strengthened, and our enrollment has increased for the first time in many years.

One of Rabbi Nevins's most commendable qualities is his commitment to our community. He has made a conscious effort to get to know our children and families personally. His open-door policy reflects his willingness to listen and address the concerns of our community, fostering a sense of trust and unity.

Please join me in congratulating Rabbi Nevins.
