The Lower School continues to strengthen its commitment to social and emotional learning (SEL) through RULER, an evidence-based approach developed by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Five faculty members have completed RULER training and serve on our Implementation Team, helping bring this important work to life for both students and colleagues.
During Faculty Professional Development Days before the start of the school year, faculty began developing a Faculty Charter—a collaborative statement that identifies how we want to feel at work and the actions that help foster those feelings. This process mirrors the work students engage in across various grade levels, reinforcing the importance of creating a shared understanding of how we can best support one another.
This week, faculty gathered to continue shaping the charter, engaging in thoughtful conversations about the feelings, behaviors, and shared commitments that contribute to a positive and supportive school culture. Through this collaborative process, we are building a stronger foundation for connection, well-being, and a thriving community for all.
