  • Jocelyn (Levine) Klar ’01 & Greg Klar ’98

    Jocelyn and Greg Klar’s story actually began before Schechter. They first crossed paths at Camp Monroe when Jocelyn was 12 and Greg was 15, although they didn’t know each other very well at the time. A few years later, they found themselves together again at Schechter High School, where Greg was a senior and Jocelyn was a freshman. Over the years, they became friends, with Greg also being friends with Jocelyn’s older brother and the group occasionally spending time together during school breaks. A few years after graduation, while Jocelyn was finishing college and Greg was living in New York City, the timing was finally right and they began dating. They were married in August 2007, and the rest is history!

    Today, Jocelyn and Greg live in Livingston with their three children, Juliana, Sydney, and Levi, who are all part of the GOA community. Juliana is in 9th grade, Sydney is in 6th, and Levi is in 3rd, and all three have been at GOA since Pre-K. Greg is a Senior Wealth Advisor and Jocelyn works in Healthcare Recruitment. Over the years, GOA has brought their family countless friendships and memories, and they love watching their children create their own. Schechter helped bring Jocelyn and Greg together all those years ago, and experiencing the community again through their children feels like coming home.

  • Heather (Abrahamian) Bier ’09 & Zach Bier ’05

    Although Heather and Zach Bier never formally met while they were students at GOA, their paths crossed long before they realized it. Heather was in Zach’s younger brother Michael’s grade and even attended Michael’s bar mitzvah, so she always knew of Zach Bier, but it wasn’t until years later that they officially met after reconnecting on Hinge.

    Today, Heather and Zach live in Short Hills, New Jersey, with their two children, Charlie and Sophie, who are both current GOA students. What began with shared GOA connections years ago has now come full circle, with the Bier family continuing the GOA tradition into another generation.

  • Mira Davis ’14 & Max Gelman ’14

    Mira Davis and Max Gelman’s GOA story began all the way back in kindergarten. The two started at Schechter together and were classmates from kindergarten through 12th grade, aside from the two years Max spent at a public school during high school. After graduating, they lost touch, but nearly a decade later, their paths crossed again, this time on Bumble. They reconnected almost four years ago and the rest, as they say, is history!

    Today, Mira and Max live together on the Upper East Side with their dog, Rose, near Park Avenue Synagogue, where Mira serves as assistant cantor. Max is a journalist covering the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. They’re also part of a growing family tradition: they are the fourth GOA double-alumni couple in the Davis family, following Jordan and Pam, Joel and Madison, and Brandon and Raina!

  • Jessica Spierer ’14 & Eric Lederman ’14

    Eric Lederman and Jessica Spierer first met in 6th grade and quickly became good friends. They performed in shows together throughout their years at GOA, including playing Danny and Sandy in Grease in 7th grade. They remained friends until senior year, when they began dating and continued together through their freshman year of college. After going their separate ways, they reconnected seven years later during the height of COVID, when Jessica reached out to express her condolences after Eric’s grandmother passed away. What started as a thoughtful gesture turned into an ongoing exchange whenever there was a big family update. This time, though, they were both single, and they saw an opportunity to reconnect.

    Eric and Jessica got married in New Jersey in June 2025 and now live in Oakland, California. Jessica moved to the Bay Area for law school, while Eric’s job relocated him from Boston to its headquarters shortly after they began talking again, in what they describe as a “wild and fortuitous coincidence.” Both are focused on their careers, but make plenty of time on the weekends to play volleyball together, explore the Bay Area, and spend time with their “furry son,” Ollie. From middle school friends to high school sweethearts, a seven-year break, and a cross-country reconnection, their GOA story has certainly taken an unexpected and exciting path.

  • Sarah (Rothenberg) Schonfeld ’06 & Evan Schonfeld ’06

    Sarah and Evan Schonfeld’s story began at GOA before they ever imagined they would become a couple. They first met at a pizza party and bowling event for incoming freshmen when they were in 8th grade. Sarah remembers wearing a red turtleneck sweater that day, while Evan insists it was a black T-shirt, a debate they still haven’t settled to this day! The two became close friends throughout high school and even attended both proms together before finally deciding to start dating during their senior year.

    Today, Sarah and Evan have returned to Livingston, New Jersey, where they are raising their three children, Lenny, Shayna, and Molly. Lenny, a 2nd grader, and Shayna, a 1st grader, are already GOA students, and 3-year-old Molly will join them in a few years. From meeting as incoming freshmen to raising the next generation of GOA students, Sarah and Evan’s story has come full circle. They are proud to be part of and help build the GOA community for the next generation.

  • Maya (Moran) Meltzer ’13 & Elan Meltzer ’13

    Maya and Elan Meltzer’s story began before they were even officially classmates. Elan attended the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union campus, while Maya attended the Solomon Schechter Day School in Cranford. They likely crossed paths in 4th or 5th grade, when the two schools took a joint trip to Philadelphia. They officially met in 6th grade, when the schools came together for middle school. Although they ran in the same circles and shared mutual friends, they weren’t particularly close at first. In fact, it took Elan most of high school to finally get Maya to notice him! Eventually, he convinced her to go on a date, and the rest is history. They stayed together through Elan’s gap year and four years of attending separate colleges, eventually moving in together after Elan graduated. More than 16 years later, their story is still going strong.

    Today, Maya and Elan are happily settled in Fanwood, New Jersey, with their two children, Aria, 3, and Liam, 1, and their dog, Shoko. Elan is a resident pursuing interventional radiology, while Maya works in strategic planning at NBC. Between two busy careers, two young children, and a dog keeping everyone on their toes, life is certainly full, but they wouldn’t have it any other way.
