• Friday, September 4

  Arielle:

   

  Today was such a meaningful and powerful experience for me and my peers. Whether we were seeing such a huge part of our history as Jewish people for the first time or we were doing something that we might be scared of. I saw so many of my friends with claustrophobia go into the underground water tunnels and face their fears. Then I was able to witness some of my classmates see the Kotel for the first time and the look of amazement on their faces was beautiful. For me, today was my birthday and going to the Kotel, seeing where my ancestors walked in the tunnel, and learning about my history was truly inspiring. Being able to be in my favorite place with my favorite people on my birthday was something I will treasure forever. Even though we are only on day five of the trip, I can already see how much we have all grown and I cannot wait to see how we will grow even more by the end of the trip!

  Natan:

   

  Today was a really fun day, and we felt like we got closer as a group. At the Shuk, we were amazed by how many different shops there were to see. At the beach, we felt relaxed and happy while swimming, talking, and joking around with our friends. At Hostages Square, we felt more serious and emotional while learning about the hostage families. Learning how people came together to support the families made us feel connected. Overall, it was a day full of fun, new experiences, and memories we will remember. 

• Wednesday, September 2

  Olivia and Paige:

   

  Today we went to the Majrase water hike which was an incredible and new experience for all of us. Definitely different from a regular hike but super fun for the grade! It was a great bonding experience, whenever we were wading in the rocky stream, we would hold on to and help our classmates, even if we weren’t close with them! Then we went to Tel Saki to learn about the bunkers that were used during the Yom Kippur war, it was so meaningful for all of us to see how the soldiers defend the country. After our amazing morning, we had a pizur lunch in Katzrin which had amazing falafel, schnitzel, and shawarma. Finally we went to Galita world of chocolate and made some delicious chocolate and learned how it originated. It was so cool to have a hands on experience! Today is our last day in the North, and staying at Degania Bet. We had a great time in this part of Israel, it was so nice to be in this area and see new things, and we are so sad to leave! 

• Tuesday, September 1

  Emma:

  Hi from Israel! The nature walk allowed us to open our eyes and truly take in the beauty of Israel. We got to dip our feet in water to refresh ourselves and the water was lovely! Later in the day we went rafting and it was a great way to bond with our classmates while also getting to cool off. We ended the day by going out to buy our own dinner and I got a great shawarma. That’s all for today! All the bonding made me realize just how amazing the people in our grade are!

  Avshalom:

   

  Today was a really fun and meaningful day. We learned about how Jewish people lived a long time ago by practicing and doing things ourselves, which made us feel more connected to the history. We worked together, played games at the beach, went on a hike, and learned about an old synagogue. At the kibbutz, we swam and played soccer with our friends. It felt great to learn, have fun, and make memories together. I’m really excited to share my homeland with my friends after they were so welcoming to me in the States. It makes me happy to show them a part of Israel that is so meaningful to me.
