GOA Welcomes New Coaches, Former NBA Player Michael Sweetney to Lead Boys Varsity Basketball
Golda Och Academy is excited to welcome former New York Knicks player Michael Sweetney to the GOA Athletics team as head coach of the 2026–27 Boys Varsity Basketball team.
Sweetney was selected 9th overall by the New York Knicks in the 2003 NBA Draft and played four seasons in the NBA before transitioning into coaching. He brings extensive basketball experience, leadership, and a passion for developing student-athletes to his new role at GOA.
Sweetney is among several new coaches joining the GOA Athletics program this season:
- Tracy Feldstein-Gardner — Varsity Girls Volleyball Assistant Coach
- Eric Deutsch — Middle School Cross Country
- Melissa Lowy — Middle School Girls Tennis
- Aili Hietala — Varsity Girls Tennis
- Anna Fishel — Middle School Girls Soccer
The addition of these experienced leaders reflects GOA’s continued commitment to enhancing its athletic program and providing student-athletes with opportunities to grow, compete, and develop both on and off the court.
“We are excited to welcome this talented group of coaches to GOA,” said Marni Endlich, GOA Athletics Director. “Their experience and commitment to student-athlete development will be an important part of the continued growth of GOA Athletics.”
With a strong group of returning coaches and new leaders joining the program, GOA Athletics is looking forward to an exciting 2026–27 season.
