Golda Och Academy Announces New Class of 2023 Scholarship Program

Golda Och Academy is pleased to announce the Och Scholars Academic Scholarship program for Science and Mathematics open to newly-enrolled students entering the 8th grade this fall. Students who apply will be eligible to receive one of six, five-year partial scholarships. (The balance of fees over and above the scholarship award will be paid by the new families.)

Students interested in this opportunity will have to complete the standard admissions process as well as an additional set of requirements, including an interview, writing sample and placement test. The placement tests will be administered on Thursday, August 16 and Thursday, August 23. For the 2018 - 2019 academic year, all new applicants for the 8th grade with a minimum “A” average in their core subjects will be eligible to apply for one of these scholarship programs. In addition to the standard admissions process, which can be found by clicking here, students wishing to apply for a scholarship must complete the following:

  • Scholarship Placement test (Thursday, August 16 or Thursday, August 23)
  • Personal interview with two members of the Scholarship Committee
  • Submit a letter of reference from an adult (not a family relation) from the community or from their current school

The deadline for completion of all parts of the application process is Thursday, August 23, 2018.

Scholarship winners will be determined by the Scholarship Committee and will be announced no later than Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

For the 2018-2019 academic year, there will be 6 scholarships available:

8th Grade - Math

  • First prize $75,000 scholarship ($15,000 award towards tuition for 5 school years)
  • Second prize $50,000 scholarship ($10,000 award towards tuition for 5 school years)
  • Third prize $25,000 scholarship ($5,000 award towards tuition for 5 school years)

8th Grade - Science

  • First prize $75,000 scholarship ($15,000 award towards tuition for 5 school years)
  • Second prize $50,000 scholarship ($10,000 award towards tuition for 5 school years)
  • Third prize $25,000 scholarship ($5,000 award towards tuition for 5 school years)

Important Details:

  • Applicants must be entering the 8th grade in September 2018.
  • Scholarship winners will also be eligible to apply for need-based financial aid. Scholarship awards will be taken into consideration in the financial aid process.
  • Current members of the Class of 2023 are not eligible for this scholarship.
