    New Faculty/Staff Orientation Day

    The last three years, our seniors found it very advantageous to begin the College Prep Class before the start of the school year. Therefore, based on your feedback this past spring, I am scheduling two virtual classes in August. Please do your best to attend these meetings since we will be addressing important details regarding your college applications. We will cover the following topics during these first two classes—
    • Completing the Common App – all sections will be reviewed, with a heavy emphasis on the education, testing, and the activities sections
    • Using SCOIR to submit supporting documents
      • Adding colleges to SCOIR
      • Requesting and sending teacher recommendations
      • Requesting transcripts
    Our first College Prep Class will be held via Zoom (Click here to join on Monday and/or Thursday) on Monday, August 29, 6:00-8:00pm and the second class will be held via Zoom on Thursday, September 1, 6:00-8:00pm. Again, based on the feedback I received from our students this past June, these days and times were most preferred. To those students who cannot attend, these sessions will be recorded.
    In September we will have additional College Prep meetings at GOA, during school hours, and the dates and times will be shared with you before the start of the school year. During those meetings we will cover interviewing, submitting test scores, writing resumes, submitting and tracking applications, selecting your final college destination, and more.
